We’re excited to be featuring free mini workshops from our sponsor CropKing at the 6th Annual Indoor Ag-Con on May 2, and wanted to share a flavor of the workshops ahead of that.
What It Covers
The CropKing mini-workshop will feature portions of its popular 2-day workshops. Led by Matthew Kispert and Steve Froehlich, this 3-hour course will cover topics including water quality, plant nutrition, and pests and diseases. Additionally, greenhouse mechanics (air movement, lighting, environmental control) will be discussed. Participants will learn about vine and leafy crop production systems and will also be introduced to the central elements of hydroponic greenhouse design and management. Our hydroponic techniques were perfected primarily with lettuce and tomato production over 35 years ago; however the same practices can be applied to cannabis or other crops. Whether you are considering hydroponic growing or are an experienced grower, this workshop will leave participants with a strong foundation of hydroponic knowledge.
Who You’ll Hear From
Steve Froehlich – Chief Engineer and Technical Consultant
Steve has a B.S. in Agricultural Engineering, Plant Science and Agronomy and has a M.S. in Agricultural Engineering and Alternative Energy Systems with a specialization in animal confinement systems and water management. Steve brings over 40 years of experience in conventional farming and 30 years of experience in hydroponic greenhouse production. Steve has developed and managed a successful hydroponic tomato, lettuce and green bean operation and has provided engineering and consulting services for many clients across the United States, Canada and Mexico.
Matthew Kispert – Horticulturist
Matthew joined the CropKing team as a horticulturist and holds a master’s degree in horticulture from the University of Minnesota. Prior to joining the CropKing team, Matthew ran a hydroponic research greenhouse in Iowa. Among his other responsibilities at CropKing, he carries out research and provides customers with the highest quality products, hydroponic systems, and controlled environment agriculture solutions. Matthew is also the primary instructor for our 5 Day Intensive Workshop that expands the hands-on experience of working in a hydroponic production greenhouse.
When It Happens
The workshops will take place on May 2, with an identical program from 9am-12pm and from 2pm-5pm. They are included with the cost of Indoor Ag-Con passes and there is no need to register separately for them.
